Eckart von Hirschhausen: Doctor, Journalist, Bestseller-Author, Cabaret Artist

Dr. Eckart von Hirschhausen (1967) studied medicine and scientific journalism in Berlin, London and Heidelberg. His specialty is to convey medical knowledge and content in a humorous way; healthy laughter with sustainable messages.

With over 15 years’ experience as a stand-up comedian, cabaret artist, author and media presenter under his belt, Eckart von Hirschhausen has appeared at all of Germany’s large venues.

His books “Arzt-Deutsch” (Medical German), “Die Leber wächst mit ihren Aufgaben” (The liver grows with its duties) and “Glück kommt selten allein” (Luck rarely comes alone) with a total print run of more than five million copies made him Germany’s most successful non-fiction author in 2008 and 2009. In September 2012, his latest book “Wohin geht die Liebe, wenn sie durch den Magen durch ist?” (Where does love go when it has passed the stomach?”) was published. In November 2013, he celebrated the premiere of his new medical cabaret routine “Wunderheiler” (miracle healer). He co-hosts the talk show “Tietjen und Hirschhausen” on the television station NDR and presents the scientific knowledge programmes “Frag doch mal die Maus” and “Hirschhausens Quiz des Menschen” on the ARD.

In 2008, he launched his HUMOR HILFT HEILEN (humor helps the healing process) foundation to promote healthy laughter in hospitals.
